MR. JEFFREY T. ROBERTS: If you've been involved in an accident of any sort there are a couple things that you need to do right off the bat. One, is you need to get medical attention. You need to talk to your doctor. It's important that your injuries are documented and that you start to receive treatment. You should start to keep a journal, or a diary, something where you mark down what you're feeling, the type of pain you're having, and the medical treatment that you're receiving. This information will be very helpful to an attorney to assist you with your personal injury case.
The second thing is you should talk to a personal injury attorney. You should talk to that attorney, explain to them the case and ask them questions to see if they can help you. What you should not do is you should not talk to the other side's insurance company. All too often I've seen people who talk to the insurance company thinking that they're helping their case and helping the insurance company, be bitten by their own words when the insurance company uses it against them down the road. So if I can give you one piece of advice that you take from this video today is, don't talk to the insurance company for the other side.
